Amman, August 17 (Petra) – The Jordanian-Qatari Parliamentary
Brotherhood Committee met on Monday with Qatar’s Ambassador to
Jordan, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, to discuss expanding
bilateral cooperation and escalating regional tensions.

Senator Khawla Armouti, chair of the committee, pointed to the deep
historical ties between Jordan and Qatar, rooted in mutual respect
and shared interests under the leadership of His Majesty King
Abdullah II and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Addressing security developments in the region, Armouti voiced
Jordan’s full solidarity with Qatar against recent attacks. She
warned that expanding regional conflicts to vital economic facilities
and waterways impacts global stability, calling on parliamentarians
to champion diplomacy, dialogue, and international law over further
escalation.

Armouti lauded Qatar’s diplomatic mediation efforts and reaffirmed
Jordan’s commitment to Gulf security as an integral part of broader
Arab stability.

She added that lasting peace hinges on ending violence in the
occupied Palestinian territories through a two-state solution based
on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital,
alongside preserving the Hashemite Custodianship over the holy sites.

The ambassador, for his part, pledged Qatar’s commitment to deepening
relations with Jordan across economic, educational, and cultural
sectors.

He praised Jordan’s consistent positions on Arab issues and King
Abdullah II’s leadership in advocating for Palestinian rights and
protecting Jerusalem’s holy sites.

The two sides agreed to continue parliamentary consultation and
bilateral coordination to advance mutual interests and regional
stability.
