Chairman Receives Qatari Minister of Commerce, Industry

3 Sep 2026 (ONA) — Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Public
Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), received at his
office today Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and
Industry in the State of Qatar and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar
Free Zones Authority, within the framework of enhancing economic and investment
relations between the two countries.
During
the meeting, ways to develop joint cooperation and expand its horizons were
discussed, particularly in areas related to special economic zones, free zones,
and industrial cities, alongside exploring available investment opportunities
and the possibility of building new partnerships that contribute to enhancing
economic integration between the two countries.
The
two sides touched upon discussing industrial clusters, integration in value
chains, the joint investment and opportunities program between the two
countries, enhancing service to the Qatari and regional markets, enhancing
supply chain resilience, and benefiting from land connectivity, ports, and
logistics services, as well as examining and introducing investment
opportunities within special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities.
During
the meeting, the investment environment in the zones supervised by the
Authority was reviewed, along with the investment opportunities provided across
a number of economic, industrial, and logistics sectors, particularly in the
manufacturing sector linked to major projects such as silica, the fisheries,
food, and cold chain sector, the aluminum, wire, and metallurgical industries
cluster in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, and the mining industrial
integration cluster in the Wilayat of Shalim, alongside incentives and
facilities provided to investors, infrastructure, and services supporting
business growth and investment sustainability.
The
two sides affirmed the importance of continued coordination and exchange of
expertise, as well as enhancing communication between concerned entities and
private sector institutions in both countries, contributing to benefiting from
available opportunities and supporting the growth of joint investments during
the coming period.
The
meeting was attended by a number of senior officials from both sides.
