Cario, Sept 6 (Petra) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign
and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi met on Sunday with Egypt’s
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr
Abdelatty to discuss bilateral relations and regional coordination.

The two ministers reviewed ongoing preparations for the 166th regular
session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level,
scheduled to take place on Monday at the Arab League headquarters in
Cairo. They also discussed logistics for the meeting of the Arab
Ministerial Committee tasked with international action to confront
illegal Israeli policies and measures in occupied Jerusalem.

Safadi and Abdelatty reaffirmed the depth of Egyptian-Jordanian
relations and emphasized their commitment to expanding bilateral
cooperation. They highlighted the importance of advancing the
trilateral cooperation mechanism connecting Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq,
stressing the need to convert shared potential into concrete projects
that advance economic integration.

Addressing the Palestinian issue, the foreign ministers evaluated
efforts to execute all elements of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan
to stabilize Gaza, secure humanitarian aid delivery, and establish
conditions for the Palestinian Authority to resume its
responsibilities.

They warned against dangerous developments in the occupied West Bank,
reiterating their absolute rejection of annexation policies,
settlement expansion, and settler violence. Both sides underscored
the necessity of preserving the historical and legal status quo at
Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites, with Abdelatty
reaffirming Egypt’s full support for the historical Hashemite
Custodianship over the sanctuaries.

On broader regional dynamics, Safadi and Abdelatty called for
de-escalation, the prioritization of diplomatic solutions, and strict
respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity. They renewed
their condemnation of recent Iranian attacks targeting Jordan and
neighboring Arab nations, with Abdelatty expressing Egypt’s full
solidarity with the Kingdom.
