Amman, Sept. 7 (Petra) – Two Senate committees met separately on
Monday with visiting Lebanese Education Minister Rima Karami to
expand bilateral cooperation in education, culture, and youth
development.

In the first meeting, Education and Higher Education Committee Chair
Wajih Owais pointed to legislative stability, educational autonomy,
and quality output as major drivers of academic success. He outlined
Jordan’s efforts to expand technical education and align academic
programs with job market demand under the Kingdom’s comprehensive
modernization vision.

Karami lauded Jordan’s educational model, stating that her official
visit aims to establish a joint framework for knowledge-sharing. She
noted that Lebanon is pursuing educational reform and seeking active
partnerships with Jordan to elevate educational quality to
international standards.

In the second meeting, Culture, Youth, and Sports Committee Chair
Haifa Najjar noted the integration of culture and education in human
development. She stressed the role of reading, cultural initiatives,
and national narrative projects in fostering awareness and connecting
future generations to their heritage.

Najjar also detailed the committee’s efforts to partner with public
and private entities in supporting creative cultural industries and
heritage-based design.

Karami expressed Lebanon’s keenness to draw on Jordan’s experience in
cultural industries, youth initiatives, and national storytelling,
welcoming structured coordination between Amman and Beirut.
