Amman, Sept. 8 (Petra) — The Jordan Food and Drug Administration
(JFDA) has shut down an unlicensed cosmetic clinic operating inside a
gym at a commercial complex in Amman as part of an intensified
inspection campaign targeting gyms and fitness centers.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the JFDA reported finding medicines,
injections, medical supplies, and intravenous solutions inside the
unlicensed clinic. Seized items included unapproved filler and Botox
injections, injectable medications used for weight loss, expired
medicines, blood collection tubes, and syringes of unknown origin
containing unidentified substances. Inspectors also found a facial
cleansing device.

The JFDA stressed that gyms and fitness centers are not licensed
healthcare facilities and are therefore not authorized to perform
medical procedures or administer medicines, injections, or
intravenous solutions. It warned against obtaining medicines and
injections, particularly those used for weight loss or cosmetic
purposes, from unlicensed providers or sources.

The administration urged the public to report complaints, inquiries,
or observations through its official complaints channels, including
WhatsApp at 0795632000 or the toll-free complaints line at 117114.

The JFDA noted that the seizure was part of targeted inspection
operations aimed at detecting unlicensed health practices and
combating the illegal distribution and use of medicines, injections,
and medical supplies in gyms and fitness centers.
