Mobile
Telecommunications Subscriptions Exceed 8.4 Million in Oman

Muscat,
8 Sep 2026 (ONA) — The total number of mobile telecommunications
subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 1% by the end of July 2026,
reaching 8,435,420 subscriptions, compared with the end of July 2025, according
to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information
(NCSI).

The
data showed that active postpaid mobile subscriptions increased by 6.8% to
reach 1,326,014 subscriptions, while active prepaid mobile subscriptions
declined by 2.6% to 5,394,199 subscriptions.

Subscriptions
to Internet of Things (IoT) machine-to-machine (M2M) services recorded growth
of 9.3%, reaching 1,715,207 subscriptions by the end of July 2026.

In
terms of fixed internet technologies, Fiber-to-the-Home/Building (FTTH/B)
subscriptions increased by 6.4% to reach 366,686 subscriptions by the end of
July 2026.

In
contrast, Fixed 5G subscriptions declined by 3.6% to 209,796 subscriptions,
while Fixed 4G subscriptions fell by 69.1% to 5,333 subscriptions.

Asymmetric
Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) subscriptions decreased by 21.4% to 8,677
subscriptions, while satellite broadband subscriptions recorded the highest
growth rate among fixed internet technologies, rising by 148.1% to 1,871
subscriptions.

The
total number of active fixed telephone subscriptions also increased by 0.5% to
reach 441,306 subscriptions by the end of July 2026.

International
internet bandwidth capacity increased by 31.8%, reaching 5,382,003 megabits per
second (Mbps) by the end of July 2026.
