Amman, Sept. 8 (Petra) — Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of
the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology
(PSUT), met on Tuesday with Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher
Education Rima Karami to explore ways to strengthen bilateral
cooperation in education, scientific research, and innovation.

The meeting took place during Karami’s official visit to Jordan to
review the kingdom’s educational expertise and academic frameworks.
The discussions were attended by PSUT President Wejdan Abu Elhaija,
Lebanese Ambassador to Jordan Brigitte Tawk, members of the
university’s Deans Council, and the visiting Lebanese delegation.

Princess Sumaya highlighted the deep historical relations between
Jordan and Lebanon, praising Lebanese students enrolled at PSUT as a
reflection of the enduring academic and cultural ties between the two
nations.

During the meeting, Princess Sumaya presented an overview of the El
Hassan Science City ecosystem, which encompasses the Royal Scientific
Society, PSUT, the iPARK business incubator, and Amman Baccalaureate
School. She underscored the advanced capabilities of these
institutions in scientific research, entrepreneurship, and
innovation, stressing the importance of leveraging these resources to
build effective partnerships, exchange knowledge, and advance
sustainable development.

Investments in human dignity, education, and innovation serve as the
foundation for empowering individuals and building resilient,
knowledge-based societies, Princess Sumaya added.

Abu Elhaija outlined PSUT’s academic milestones and its specialized
programs in computing sciences, engineering, and business technology
designed to align with the demands of the digital economy. She noted
that the university’s achievements stem from continuous support and
strategic guidance aimed at fostering skills capable of delivering
innovative solutions for future challenges.

For her part, Karami commended PSUT’s academic standing and its role
in fostering technological innovation. She expressed Lebanon’s
keenness to translate the visit into practical joint initiatives,
strategic research support, and collaborative programs that address
environmental and developmental challenges through science and
technology.

Karami extended her gratitude to Jordan’s leadership, government, and
people for their continuous support of Lebanon, reaffirming the
importance of expanding bilateral ties in higher education and
research.

The visit concluded with a tour of the PSUT campus, where the
delegation visited an exhibition showcasing student entrepreneurial
projects in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and drone
engineering.
