Amman, Sept. 9 (Petra) – The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM)
launched an online service on Wednesday for issuing valet parking
permits.
The new digital service aims to curb sidewalk misuse, ease traffic
congestion, and crack down on unlicensed operators, ensuring safe and
legal parking management across commercial areas, it said.
Under the new system, valet companies and business owners can apply
for permits online. Applicants must submit occupational licenses for
the valet company, the host business, and the designated parking lot.
They must also provide notarized lease agreements and formal
contracts detailing service terms, duration, and required parking
spaces.
GAM stated that businesses using their own built-in parking lots must
meet full parking space requirements without replacing them with
cash-in-lieu fees, adding that service providers are prohibited from
blocking or reserving public sidewalks under any circumstances.
In coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security
Directorate, the online permitting platform aims to bring structure
to the valet industry and eliminate illegal practices on city
streets.
