Amman, Sept. 10 (Petra) — The Accreditation and Quality Assurance
Commission Law No. 18 of 2026 was published in the Official Gazette
on Thursday, following royal ratification by His Majesty King
Abdullah II pursuant to Article 31 of the Constitution.

The law, approved by both the Senate and the Lower House of
Parliament, enters into force 90 days after its publication.

Article 1 establishes the official title as the “Accreditation and
Quality Assurance Commission Law of 2026.” Article 2 sets out
statutory definitions for key terms:

The Commission is defined as the Accreditation and Quality Assurance
Commission, the Board refers to the Commission’s Board, and the
Chairman refers to the Chairman of the Board.

General education encompasses all educational stages starting from
kindergarten through the completion of upper secondary education.

The General Examination is defined as the standardized examination
administered by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource
Development covering secondary education curricula for admission to
higher education institutions.

Higher education refers to post-secondary education lasting at least
one academic year following the passage of the general examination or
its equivalent, delivered by higher education institutions pursuant
to the Jordanian Universities Law and related legislation.

Kindergarten is defined as an educational institution providing
instruction for a child for up to two years prior to first grade.

A school is defined as an educational institution encompassing a
part, a full stage, or multiple stages of early, middle, or secondary
education.
