Irbid industrialists decide chamber elections by acclamation ahead of polling

Irbid, Sept. 10 (Petra) — Hakam Al-Duwairi, head of the Irbid
Chamber of Industry election committee, said nine candidates have
registered for the chamber’s elections, scheduled for Oct. 3.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Thursday, Al-Duwairi
said nominations for the nine-seat board of directors closed on
Wednesday, with the committee receiving applications from nine
candidates.

He said the committee will examine and approve the candidates’
documents before submitting them to the Independent Election
Commission (IEC), with the final list scheduled to be published next
Monday.

For his part, former President of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, Hani
Abu Hassan, said Irbid industrialists had reached an agreement to
form a new board as a single slate by acclamation, headed by Hani Abu
Hassan, with Hussein Al-Drayseh, Nidal Al-Hasi, Amin Al-Ramahi,
Khaled Al-Kharashqah, Mamoun Halawa, Mamoun Khader, Mohammad Oweis
and Mazen Al-Rimah as members.

Abu Hassan said the consensus on electing the new board by
acclamation would provide the chamber’s management with greater
stability and enable it to work according to established plans aimed
at boosting exports and growth across all industrial sectors.
