Amman, Sept. 11 (Petra)– Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad
Hijazin, in the presence of Jordan’s Ambassador to Russia Khaled
Al-Shawabkeh and Jordan’s Honorary Consul in Yekaterinburg, met with
Metropolitan Anthony, Deputy Patriarch of Moscow and head of the
Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
According to a ministry statement issued Friday, the meeting
discussed ways to enhance Jordan-Russia cooperation in the field of
Christian religious tourism, promote the Kingdom’s religious and
Christian sites, and encourage Russian pilgrims and visitors to visit
Jordan.
The two sides also discussed the participation of Russian churches in
the 2030 celebrations marking the 2,000th anniversary of the baptism
of Jesus Christ.
The meeting was held as part of the visit of a Jordanian government
delegation to Russia, comprising Minister of Tourism and Antiquities
Imad Hijazin, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Al-Qudah,
Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khreisat, and Director General of the
Jordan Customs Department Maj. Gen. Ahmad Al-Akailek.
