Cairo, Sept. 14 (Petra) — Jordan is seeking closer employment and
labor-market cooperation with Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, including the
exchange of expertise on platforms connecting job seekers in the
Kingdom with private-sector opportunities in Kuwait.

Minister of Transport and Labor Nidal Qatamin discussed the
initiative and broader labor cooperation in separate meetings with
Saudi and Kuwaiti officials on the sidelines of the 52nd Arab Labor
Conference in Cairo.

In talks with Kuwait Public Authority for Manpower Director General
Rabab Al-Osaimi, discussions focused on employment cooperation and
Kuwait’s experience with platforms serving private-sector employers
and job seekers in Jordan.

Qatamin also met Saudi Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social
Development for Labor Abdullah bin Nasser Abuthnain to discuss
expanding bilateral cooperation in labor affairs and developing areas
of mutual interest.

The talks come as Arab labor markets face changing skills and
employment requirements, increasing the need for closer coordination
on training, workforce development and the exchange of labor-market
information.

Qatamin said cooperation should extend across employment, training
and qualification programs, with greater exchange of expertise and
successful practices among Arab countries.

Closer coordination, he added, could help improve the efficiency of
Arab labor markets, expand employment opportunities and better align
workforce skills with economic and development needs.

He also stressed the importance of protecting the rights of workers
and employers and promoting decent work while maintaining a balance
between labor-market requirements and broader development priorities.

Qatamin said the Kingdom remains committed to strengthening joint
Arab action on labor issues and developing closer links among
regional labor markets as they adapt to rapid changes in employment
and skills demand.
