Amman, Sept. 14 (Petra) – European Commission President Ursula von
der Leyen criticized on Monday the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi
Arabia, pledging continued European Union backing for regional
stability and maritime security.
“I condemn the Houthi attack against Saudi Arabia,” von der Leyen
posted on X. “We stand in solidarity with our Gulf partners in the
face of relentless attacks by Iran’s proxies.”
She stated that the EU is committed to collaborating with
international allies to preserve freedom of navigation through the
Strait of Hormuz, stressing that global powers share a mutual
interest in preventing further escalation in the Middle East.
