Petra, Sept 14 (Petra) — The Petra Development and Tourism Region
Authority (PDTRA) hosted a graduation ceremony on Monday for 34
female artisans following their completion of vocational and
professional training programs aimed at advancing women’s economic
empowerment.

The training initiatives form part of PDTRA’s efforts to enhance
women’s participation in the labor market by equipping them with
specialized skills to transform their training into sustainable
income-generating projects and employment opportunities.

PDTRA Chief Commissioner Adnan Al Sawair stated that the authority’s
economic empowerment programs focus on capacity building and aligning
vocational training with local market demands, enabling women to
transition from skill acquisition to production and self-reliance in
step with the Economic Modernization Vision and local development
priorities.

Commissioner for Sustainable Development Dr. Fatima Al-Hilalat,
speaking in the presence of Commissioner for Infrastructure and
Investment Mohammad Habahbeh, noted that developing female craft
skills supports financial independence and expands opportunities in
entrepreneurship across the Petra region.

The training covered multiple craft and professional tracks,
including silversmithing, ceramics, culinary arts, and tailoring,
alongside practical workshops aimed at improving product quality and
market competitiveness.
