Amman, Sept. 15 (Petra) — Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament
Mazen Qadi and a French parliamentary delegation on Tuesday discussed
ways to strengthen parliamentary relations and expand cooperation in
legislative and oversight fields.

The delegation, representing the French National Assembly’s
France-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Association, was headed by
Philippe Lottiaux. French Ambassador to Jordan Franck Gellet also
attended the meeting.

Qadi described the Jordanian-French relations as strategic and
deep-rooted, built on shared visions between His Majesty King
Abdullah II and French President Emmanuel Macron, particularly in
supporting peace efforts, establishing a Palestinian state and
promoting regional security and stability.

He expressed appreciation for France’s support for Jordan, describing
France as an important political, economic and development partner.
He also highlighted the French Development Agency’s support for vital
sectors in the Kingdom.

Qadi stressed the importance of boosting trade, connecting the
Jordanian Businessmen Association with the French business community,
and creating more opportunities for investment and partnerships to
increase bilateral trade.

He also called for activating the Jordanian-French Parliamentary
Friendship Association, intensifying reciprocal visits, developing
joint work programs, and strengthening communication between
specialized parliamentary committees to exchange expertise in
legislation, oversight and institutional performance.

Lottiaux said Jordan is an “essential and reliable partner for
France,” praising His Majesty King Abdullah II’s role in promoting
regional security and stability and his continued efforts to advance
political solutions to regional crises.

He affirmed the French Parliament’s commitment to strengthening
cooperation with the Jordanian Lower House, developing parliamentary
relations and exchanging expertise, highlighting the role
parliamentarians can play in building additional bridges between the
two countries.

Lottiaux reiterated France’s support for the rights of the
Palestinian people and the need for a two-state solution that ensures
the establishment of a viable Palestinian state, stressing that peace
and stability in the region are shared priorities.

He also underscored the importance of advancing Jordanian-French
economic, investment and development partnerships and creating more
opportunities for Jordanian and French companies to boost investment
flows and private-sector cooperation.

Members of the French delegation praised the strong Jordanian-French
relations and stressed the importance of continued coordination and
communication between the two legislative institutions to deepen the
existing partnership and broaden cooperation.
