Amman, Sept 16 (Petra) – HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal on Wednesday
welcomed a French parliamentary delegation, including the chair and
members of the France-Jordan Parliamentary Friendship Association, to
discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well
as ways to enhance Jordanian-French cooperation and dialogue.

During the meeting, Prince El Hassan called for rethinking the
concepts of regional planning and spatial management in the Levant,
placing the human along with their dignity, rights, and basic needs
at the center.

He highlighted the need to adopt comprehensive development approaches
that address the needs of approximately 300 million people living in
the countries of the Levant.

Prince El Hassan spoke of the importance of shifting toward a more
integrated regional vision to address the issues of development,
resources, and population.

Such a vision, he said, would strengthen inter-state ties within the
region and contribute to building a more stable and equitable future,
he noted, asserting that future planning must be grounded in
upholding human dignity and fostering opportunities for participation
and sustainable development.

His Highness also addressed the Palestinian issue and the situation
in the Levant amid ongoing settlement expansion and the repercussions
of refugee and displacement crises.

These challenges should be viewed within a comprehensive regional
framework taking into account interconnected humanitarian, political,
and developmental dimensions, he stressed.

The meeting also touched on the European policy on Palestine and the
region, highlighting the importance of developing a more
comprehensive approach to support regional stability, address the
root causes of crises, and enhance opportunities for cooperation and
dialogue among the various parties.

Members of the French team valued Jordan’s role in the region and
noted France’s commitment to further strengthening support for and
cooperation with the Kingdom, including in the field of water
resource management and addressing water scarcity challenges.

The two sides also stressed the importance of continued dialogue and
communication between Jordan and France and closer parliamentary
cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
