Jordanian economic delegation seeks investment in Milan ahead of EU summit

Amman, Sept. 16 (Petra) — A Jordanian economic delegation began an
important economic tour in Milan, Italy, on Wednesday, holding a
series of meetings aimed at attracting investment, expanding
industrial and trade partnerships between the two countries, and
preparing for active Italian participation in the Jordan-European
Investment Conference.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Investment, the
delegation, comprising Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Zeina Toukan, Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh,
Jordanian Ambassador to Italy Qais Abu Daieh, and representatives of
the Jordanian private sector, held meetings with executives from
Italian industrial and technology companies and institutions. The
talks focused on linking their expansion plans with investment
opportunities available in Jordan.

The meetings brought together companies with specialized production
and technological expertise and institutions representing a broad
network of Italian businesses and a smart manufacturing center. They
provided an opportunity to discuss investment requirements ranging
from technology and skills to production facilities and support
services, as well as explore areas of cooperation that could enhance
the competitiveness of companies in both countries.

The participation of private-sector representatives and several major
Jordanian production companies allowed them to showcase successful
investment and export experiences, discuss partnership requirements
directly with their Italian counterparts, and explore joint projects
that could capitalize on Jordan’s position as a production and export
hub and gateway to regional markets.

The tour included meetings with executives and representatives of
Italian companies, including Pometon, which specializes in advanced
metal industries; Esapharma, a pharmaceutical manufacturer; Bel, a
real estate development and logistics facilities company; and
Almaviva, a digital solutions provider. The talks focused on
opportunities for production and service cooperation with Jordanian
companies.

The delegation also met with Alvise Biffi, president of Assolombarda,
the Association of Industrial Companies of Lombardy, to discuss ways
to strengthen ties between the two business communities and encourage
participation in the Jordan-European Investment Conference.

It also visited the MADE Competence Center Industria 4.0 at
Politecnico di Milano to discuss cooperation in production
modernisation, training and technology transfer.

The delegation took part in a business meeting organized by the
Ministry of Investment with executives from Italian companies and
institutions to discuss investment, partnership, and financing
opportunities.

Toukan stressed the importance of the tour in expanding cooperation
between Jordanian and Italian institutions in priority areas and
translating it into programs, investments, and projects aligned with
the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision and serving the
mutual interests of the two countries.

She said the meetings would strengthen technical cooperation and the
exchange of expertise between economic institutions in the two
friendly countries. The participation of the private sector, she
added, gave the tour a practical dimension through direct engagement
between companies, paving the way for turning understandings into
productive partnerships that leverage the complementary capabilities
of both sides and deliver tangible economic and development returns.

Abu Ghazaleh said Jordan offered a stable investment environment and
a reliable partnership, adding that its investment value extended
beyond its domestic market to opportunities for accessing regional
and global markets, supported by its geographic location, trade
agreements, skilled workforce, and private-sector network.

He said the Economic Modernization Vision had established a clear
path for growth, with programs and priorities enabling investors to
identify opportunities and plan for the long term.

The Ministry of Investment, he added, continued to work within this
framework to turn opportunities into productive projects by improving
service efficiency, streamlining procedures, and following up on
companies’ needs as they establish, operate, and expand their
businesses.

Abu Ghazaleh also pointed to opportunities for integration with the
European private sector, particularly Italian companies, in
specialized industries, technology and production-related services.
He invited Italian companies to participate in the Jordan-European
Investment Conference, scheduled to be held at the Dead Sea on Nov.
19 under royal patronage, and to explore opportunities through
sector-specific and business-to-business meetings with project
owners, government entities, and financing institutions to discuss
partnership, financing, and implementation requirements directly.

Abu Daieh, for his part, stressed the importance of building on the
longstanding relations between Jordan and Italy. He said the embassy
was committed to maintaining engagement with the Italian business
community and following up on the outcomes of the meetings in
coordination with the relevant authorities, in a way that supports
sustainable partnerships and strengthens Italian participation in the
Jordan-European Investment Conference.

The delegation will continue its economic tour in Milan on Thursday,
promoting investment opportunities in Jordan and strengthening
partnerships between the Jordanian and Italian business sectors.
