Meeting Discusses Enhancing Joint Financial, Economic Integration
Muscat,
17 Sep 2026 (ONA) — The Committee of Undersecretaries of GCC Ministries of
Finance held today its 76th meeting via videoconferencing.
The
meeting aimed to review a number of topics related to enhancing the march of
economic and financial cooperation and integration among the Council states.
The
Sultanate of Oman was represented at the meeting by Abdullah Salim Al Harthy,
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance.
During
the meeting, the outcomes of the meetings of relevant Gulf committees were
discussed, including the Committee of Governors of GCC Central Banks, the
Customs Union Authority, and the Committee of Heads and Directors of Tax
Administrations, as well as the outcomes of the meeting of the GCC Common
Market Committee.
The
meeting discussed the latest developments in free trade agreement negotiations
between the GCC states and other countries and international blocs, as well as
updates on the agreement linking payments among GCC states, along with the
studies and projects whose preparation is being followed up by the Economic and
Development Affairs Authority Office within the framework of supporting
economic and developmental integration among the Council states.
The
meeting also touched upon developments in the program for achieving economic
unity among GCC states, and following up on the implementation of decisions
from the 125th meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee,
thereby contributing to supporting the pathways of joint Gulf action in
financial and economic fields.
The
convening of the 76th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of
Ministries of Finance comes within the framework of preparing for the 126th
meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee, and following
up on financial and economic topics and dossiers of common interest among the
Council states.
The
meeting was attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Finance, the
Royal Oman Police (ROP), and the Tax Authority.
