Nine Clubs Compete in 2026/2027 Women’s Futsal League

Muscat,
22 Sep 2026 (ONA) — Competition in the Women’s Futsal League for the
2026/2027 sporting season is underway with the participation of nine clubs, as
part of Oman Football Association’s efforts to enhance the presence of women’s
football and broaden the base of participation in official competitions.

The first stage of the League is being held in a tournament
format at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, with the participation
of Al Shabab, Salalah, Quriyat, Al Amerat, Fanja, Saham, Sohar, Al Bashayir,
and Masirah clubs, with the teams competing in accordance with the approved
regulations for the competition.

The
results of the first day of the opening round saw Al Shabab draw 1-1 with
Salalah, while Quriyat defeated Al Amerat 4-2.

The League represents an important milestone within programmes
for developing women’s football in the Sultanate of Oman by providing regular
competition for female players, raising the technical standard, and giving
clubs greater opportunity to develop their teams and enhance the continuity of
their participation in women’s activity.

The
League competitions will continue through their various stages until 19
December 2026, with subsequent stages set to witness progressive competition
among the teams according to the tournament system. The first stage is being
held in a tournament format, while the second stage will be played on a home-and-away
basis within a single group comprising the teams that qualify from the first
stage.
