OCCI Organizes Ceremony to Mark
Passing Out of 7 Startups Within “Plastic Exports Accelerator Programme”Muscat, 22 September 2026 (ONA) — The
Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) today held a ceremony to mark the
passing out of 7 startups in implementation of an initiative titled “Plastic
Exports Acceleration Programme”, which was designed to enhance the
capabilities of Omani companies operating in the polymer sector and achieving
the access of startups to global markets.Organized by the OCCI in cooperation
with OQ (the global integrated energy group), the ceremony was held under the
auspices of Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the OCCI Board of
Directors.The programme, which lasted for two
months, focused on enhancing the readiness of startups for exports and
developing their aptitude to access global markets, notably in the United
States of America. It was also part of efforts to generate new commercial
opportunities for value-added Omani products.The programme stems from constant cooperation
between the OCCI (via its US Commercial Office) and the OQ. It was in pursuance
of the OCCI’s role to consolidate the competitiveness of Oman’s industrial
sector and empower national companies to expand in regional and global markets.
Such initiatives aim to augment the
contribution of converting industries and non-oil exports to the Gross Domestic
Product (GDP). The partnership also reflects OQ’s
ongoing commitment to fostering the growth of Oman’s polymer sector, maximizing
In-Country Value (ICV) and opening up vistas for facilitating the access of
Omani products to global markets.
