Foreign Minister Participates in Ministerial Meeting in Support of UNRWANew York, 24 Sep 2026 (ONA) — Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, participated in the ministerial meeting in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which was held in New York, co-hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Spain and the Federative Republic of Brazil, with the participation of António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations. The event took place within the framework of the the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly.The meeting comes in the context of international endeavors to support the Agency and enable it to fulfill its UN mandate, and to enhance its capacity to respond to the needs of Palestine refugees and continue providing its essential services.The participants affirmed the importance of pooling international efforts to provide the necessary political and financial support for the continuation of the Agency’s educational, health and relief programs, thereby contributing to meeting the needs of Palestine refugees, alleviating their suffering and preserving their human dignity.They stressed that preserving the humanitarian and developmental role of UNRWA is a shared international responsibility, until a just solution to the Palestine refugee question is reached in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions.— Ends/AH
