Cairo, October 11 (QNA) – The State of Palestine requested that the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States convene an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives as soon as possible to discuss mechanisms for providing international protection to the Palestinian people and ensuring respect for international law and international legitimacy resolutions concerning the legal status of Jerusalem.
Palestinian Permanent Representative to the Arab League Muhannad Al Aklouk said on Sunday that the proposed session would discuss avenues for Arab and international action amid escalating attacks by Israeli occupation forces and armed settlers against the Palestinian people and their property, carried out with the protection and support of the occupation government and its army.
He added that these attacks form part of a systematic policy aimed at displacing Palestinian communities, expanding settlements and undermining the two-state solution.
Al Aklouk noted that the meeting would also address violations targeting occupied Jerusalem and its international legal status, particularly amid moves by certain countries to open embassies in the city. (QNA)
