Amman, Feb 4 (Petra) — As part of a royal directive to launch a humanitarian air bridge to the Gaza Strip, 14 new aid helicopters took off on Tuesday from the King Abdullah II Air Base to Gaza.

The aircraft carried 15 tons of relief supplies, in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and a number of Arab and world countries, bringing total aid to about 100 tons that was ferried to the Kosovim site in Gaza’s Al-Qarara area and delivered to those in need in the Strip.

The Jordanian air bridge aims to accelerate the transport of urgent supplies, especially medicines and medical equipment.

The total number of helicopters that took part in the airlift by the Jordan Armed Forces was 86, including 9 Italian aircraft, which added to 125 previous Jordanian airdrops and 266 by the armies of Arab and friendly countries, as well as 53 aircraft to Egypt’s El Arish Airport.

About 1,067 trucks have also arrived in Gaza since the ceasefire deal.
