Amman, Feb. 1 (Petra) – A total of 514 associations, centers, and institutions dedicated to caring for orphans, the elderly, and persons with disabilities have benefited this year from the Royal Grant, which is provided annually in celebration of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s birthday.
This initiative, launched in 2011, aims to empower these organizations to continue their services to targeted groups and enhance their role in serving communities across the Kingdom, ensuring fairness and improving the quality of services provided.
During the grant distribution ceremony held on Saturday at the Royal Hashemite Court, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, emphasized that His Majesty’s directives focus on ensuring a dignified life for all citizens, particularly for those in greatest need.
Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal Initiatives, highlighted that the Royal Initiative to support charities and institutions catering to vulnerable groups reflects His Majesty’s unwavering commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for them. He reaffirmed that voluntary work and philanthropy are key Royal priorities, reinforcing Jordan’s social fabric and advancing its developmental journey.
Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa stated that objective and transparent criteria were used to select the beneficiaries, ensuring fair geographical distribution and prioritizing the most vulnerable groups. She added that the selection process took into account orphanages, senior care homes, and institutions offering protection and care services.
The minister emphasized that His Majesty’s initiatives aim to improve citizens’ quality of life through well-structured partnerships with relevant institutions, ensuring equitable development across all regions, including Jordan’s three Badia regions (North, Central, and South).
Leaders of beneficiary organizations expressed their gratitude for the Royal support, describing it as a lifeline that enables them to enhance their services and strengthen their role in social development. They affirmed that the initiative has had transformational effects, improving training and rehabilitation programs, expanding care services, and supporting the integration of persons with disabilities into society.
His Majesty King Abdullah II remains committed to launching initiatives that directly enhance citizens’ lives, ensuring sustainable and impactful development across all sectors and regions in Jordan.
The event was attended by Amman Governor Yasser Al-Adwan, representatives of beneficiary institutions, and officials from relevant government agencies.
