Amman, Jan 26 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat met on Sunday with World Farmers’ Organization (WFO) Director General Ki Zhang, Special Envoy for the Middle East Alaa Al-Deek, and Deputy Director General Pink Maria to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in developing the agricultural sector in Jordan.
During the meeting, Hneifat emphasized the importance of working closely with the organization and the need for formal communication channels to adopt their initiatives. He praised the WFO’s interest in Jordan and its role in supporting the agricultural sector.
Zhang highlighted that the WFO operates in 26 countries with regional offices in 57 countries worldwide. The organization focuses on transferring technology, empowering the agricultural sector, and providing training for government staff, as well as supporting government plans and strategies to develop the sector.
He added that the WFO aims to establish a regional office in Jordan, given its pivotal role and prominence at both regional and international levels, to continue its efforts in the Middle East.
Both sides stressed the importance of continued communication to draft a memorandum of understanding that would formalize the cooperation and support joint efforts to achieve the goals of developing the agricultural sector.
