Salt, Jan. 28 (Petra) — Al-Balqa Applied University has been selected to lead the United Nations Chair for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, “Quality Education,” for the 2025-2027 term.
The university was chosen from a pool of 330 global institutions due to its exceptional contributions to academic and technical programs that align with student needs and the local and regional job markets.
This recognition also acknowledges the university’s pioneering role in sustainable development through its widespread colleges and centers across Jordan. The selection highlights the university’s international influence, demonstrated through initiatives aimed at advancing innovation, entrepreneurship, and applied scientific research, such as its recent “INTERNISA” project, which focuses on enhancing digital skills for women.
As chair, Al-Balqa Applied University will establish an international platform to promote best practices in education, foster international cooperation to enhance education quality, and support both local and international initiatives in the sector.
Ahmad Fakhri Al-Ajlouni, President of Al-Balqa Applied University, expressed his pride in the achievement, emphasizing that it reflects the university’s commitment to its vision of becoming a globally recognized applied university that excels in teaching, fosters creativity and innovation, and leads in research, development, and entrepreneurship.
