Cairo, July 08 (QNA) – The Arab League reiterated its categorical rejection of the Iranian attacks targeting the interests and territories of the Arab Gulf and neighboring countries, most recently the targeting of the Qatari liquefied natural gas tanker Al Rekayyat and the Saudi giant crude oil tanker Wadiyan, as well as the repeated attacks against the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain with missiles and drones.
In a statement on Wednesday, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy warned of the grave danger posed by this escalating course and its sensitive timing, noting that it comes amid regional and international efforts aimed at consolidating de-escalation and restoring the regular flow of maritime navigation. He said the developments threaten to undermine these efforts and drag the region once again into an open-ended confrontation with serious consequences.
Fahmy also affirmed the Arab League’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as with all Arab Gulf states.
He said the security of the Arabian Gulf is an integral part of the Arab national security system, and that any attack targeting one of its countries, its vital interests or its maritime passages affects shared Arab interests and threatens the security and stability of the entire region. (QNA)
