Cairo, July 10 (Petra)– Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed
Al Yamahi has welcomed the United States’ announcement that it has
begun procedures to revoke the Syrian Arab Republic’s designation as
a State Sponsor of Terrorism, describing the move as a positive step
that could support Syria’s recovery, reconstruction, and long-term
stability.
Al Yamahi said the decision would help create a more favorable
environment for economic development, while contributing to the
country’s reconstruction efforts and broader stabilization.
He added that the move marks an important development that supports
Syria’s return to its normal role within the international community.
It would also help ease the economic and humanitarian burdens facing
the Syrian people, stimulate economic activity, attract investment,
and advance the aspirations of Syrians for security, stability, and
prosperity.
The Arab Parliament Speaker reaffirmed the parliament’s steadfast
support for Arab, regional, and international efforts aimed at
assisting Syria, preserving its unity, sovereignty, and territorial
integrity, and strengthening its state institutions in a way that
promotes security, stability, and safeguards the interests of the
Syrian people.
Al Yamahi also called on the international community to continue
taking steps that support Syria’s stability and economic recovery,
while enhancing cooperation with the country in a manner that serves
the interests of the Syrian people and contributes to strengthening
security, stability, and sustainable development across the region.
He stressed that Syria’s stability remains a cornerstone of peace and
security in the Arab world.
