Amman, July 23 (Petra)– Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj.
Gen. Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, met on Wednesday with Vice Chairman of
the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Christopher J. Mahoney, at the
Pentagon as part of his official visit to the United States.

Al-Hunaiti was received with an official military welcome ceremony in
accordance with protocol before holding bilateral talks with Mahoney,
followed by an expanded meeting attended by senior military officers
and officials from both countries.

The discussions focused on military and defense cooperation between
Jordan and the United States and ways to further strengthen
collaboration in training, joint exercises, exchange of expertise,
capacity building, and enhancing operational readiness and
coordination. The two sides stressed that closer cooperation would
improve the ability of both armed forces to address evolving security
challenges.

The talks also covered the latest regional developments and their
implications for regional security and stability, as well as ongoing
joint efforts to confront shared threats and enhance coordination on
issues of mutual interest.

Al-Hunaiti reaffirmed the depth of the strategic partnership between
Jordan and the United States, underscoring the importance of
expanding military cooperation programs and exchanging expertise to
further strengthen the efficiency and readiness of the Jordan Armed
Forces–Arab Army.

For his part, Mahoney praised the high level of cooperation and
coordination between the armed forces of the two countries and
commended Jordan’s role in promoting security and stability in the
region. He reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to further
advancing joint defense cooperation and expanding strategic military
partnership.

The meeting was part of a series of engagements Al-Hunaiti is holding
during his official visit to Washington aimed at deepening military
and defense ties, broadening coordination, and enhancing the exchange
of expertise between the armed forces of the two friendly countries.
