Amman, Oct. 18 (Petra) – ASEZA Commissioner for Infrastructure and
Urban Affairs Mu’tassem Hindawi and Chief Representative of Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Jordan Office Morihata Shingo
signed the Record of Discussion for the project titled “Project for
Strengthening Capacity for ASEZ Smart City.”
The JICA-funded project focuses on creating a roadmap for smart city
technologies in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ), a critical
regional logistics hub and key tourism destination within Jordan’s
Golden Triangle.
In late 2024, JICA finalized an updated 15-year master plan for the
ASEZ, outlining 99 projects across various investment sectors.
The new initiative builds on JICA’s plan, furthering its commitment
to positioning Aqaba as a central engine for Jordan’s economic
growth.
Alongside drafting the smart city master plan, the project will offer
professional training, a study tour to Japan, and expert consulting
for ASEZA teams.
The project will be in line with Jordan’s Economic Modernization
Vision (EMV).
