Amman, June 28 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labor,
Dr. Abdul Halim Doujan, ruled out future changes on exemptions
contained in the Cabinet’s decision for the regularization period for
undocumented non-Jordanian workers.

In a statement issued by the ministry on Sunday, he said the
Cabinet’s decision exempted employers and undocumented non-Jordanian
workers in various sectors and economic activities from 50% of work
permit fees, including domestic workers, for all previous periods.

Doujan added that the decision also relieved employers and
non-Jordanian workers from 100% of late unpaid fees upon renewing
expired work permits or transferring to another employer in various
sectors and economic activities.

Additionally, he said undocumented non-Jordanian workers, who are
subject to the provisions of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs
Law, were exempted from 100% of overstay fines if they rectify their
status during the regularization period.

Doujan noted the decision also relieved non-Jordanian workers in
violation of residency laws and wish to leave the Kingdom permanently
(without return) from all work permit fees and fines up to the
departure date.

He said non-Jordanian workers, who are subject to provisions of the
Residency and Foreigners Affairs Law, including domestic workers,
will be exempt from 100% of overstay fines if they leave the Kingdom
permanently.

On its policy, he said the ministry will deport all violating
non-Jordanian workers, who failed to rectify their status, in
accordance with the provisions of the Labor and Residency and
Foreigners Affairs Laws, including domestic workers, starting from
October 1st.

He added that the ministry will conduct an inspection campaign in
cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security
Directorate during this period to apprehend any non-Jordanian
national working, in violation of the provisions of the Labor and
Residency and Foreigners Affairs Laws and deport violators
“immediately.”
