Aqaba, July 26 (Petra) — The Jordan Breast Cancer Program at King
Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center launched a colon cancer
awareness project Sunday targeting the Aqaba, Ma’an and Tafilah
governorates, funded by the Jordan Kuwait Bank.

The launch ceremony was held at the Great Arab Revolt Plaza in Aqaba
and attended by representatives of the foundation, the bank, several
partners and members of the local community,

according to a foundation statement issued Sunday, the project aims
to raise awareness about colon cancer, promote a culture of early
detection, and encourage target groups to undergo necessary
screenings, boosting opportunities for prevention, early detection
and improved treatment outcomes.

Jordan Breast Cancer Program (JBCP) Director, Reem Ajlouni, said
colon cancer is the second most common cancer but among the most
preventable and detectable in its early stages through simple
screenings and awareness of risk factors. She said early detection
significantly raises recovery rates and improves quality of life.

Ajlouni praised the Jordan Kuwait Bank’s support for the project,
saying the contribution of national institutions to health
initiatives represents a model of effective community partnership
that helps implement national programs aimed at protecting the health
of Jordanians and strengthening disease prevention.

Ramzi Kababreti, the Jordan Kuwait Bank’s Aqaba branch manager, said
the bank’s support for the project reflects its social and national
responsibility and its belief in the importance of investing in
community health.

He said the bank remains committed to continuing its cooperation with
King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center on initiatives that serve
people and strengthen health awareness.

The launch ceremony featured an educational program that included a
lecture by Osama Khatib of the center on the importance of colon
cancer prevention and early detection, a performance by the Ma’an
band, and several awareness stations and booths offering health
information and guidance to visitors.

The project is part of ongoing efforts by King Hussein Cancer
Foundation and Center to raise cancer awareness and reach local
communities across the Kingdom’s governorates through partnerships
with the private sector that help spread health education and
strengthen prevention and early detection practices.
