Amman, September 29 (Petra) – Minister of Government Communications
Mohammad Momani discussed equipping younger Jordanians with skills to
verify information, assess sources and distinguish facts from
opinions to promote informed public discourse.

Speaking to participants in the seventh cohort of the Parliamentary
Fellowship Programme, organised by the King Abdullah II Fund for
Development, Momani said responsible public debate should be based on
accurate and reliable information, while citizens have the right to
support, oppose or criticize public policies through constructive
dialogue.

The session, titled “The Role of Media in Strengthening the Internal
Front,” discussed the influence of traditional and social media on
public debate, misinformation and rumours and the challenges posed by
the growing volume of online content and the “attention economy.”

Momani discussed the role of government communication in providing
accurate information, clarifications and context on issues of public
interest, in cooperation with media outlets and journalists.

He called for youth participation in programmes that combine
theoretical knowledge with practical experience, saying such
initiatives strengthen research skills and encourage informed
engagement in public affairs.

The interactive session addressed the impact of artificial
intelligence on media and content creation and the role of government
communication in supporting informed public dialogue.
