Amman, July 11 (Petra) – Southern Military Zone troops on Saturday
thwarted a drone attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs across
the border, the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) said.
The drone was detected by border guard units and dealt with according
to the rules of engagement, shooting it down inside Jordanian
territory, it said.
In coordination with relevant military and security bodies and the
Anti-Narcotics Department, a cargo of narcotics was seized and
transferred to the competent authorities for legal action, it said.
The JAF vowed border guard forces will continue to carry out their
duties with efficiency and competence, operating at the highest
levels of readiness to prevent any infiltration and smuggling
attempts, and counter anyone trying to undermine the Kingdom’s
security, stability, and the safety of its people.
