AMMAN, Oct. 14 (Petra) – Border Guard units within the Eastern
Military Zone intercepted and downed two guided balloons carrying
substantial quantities of narcotics attempting to breach Jordanian
airspace early Wednesday.
Military surveillance systems detected the airborne devices
attempting an unauthorized border crossing before
counter-interception protocols were deployed to bring them down
safely within Jordanian territory.
In a coordinated operation with military intelligence, security
services, and the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), the illicit
shipment was secured and handed over to competent legal authorities
for processing.
The General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF)
reiterated the complete operational readiness and vigilance of its
Border Guard formations to neutralize emerging smuggling vectors and
safeguard national security.
