FAAPA, Professional Platform Aimed at Establishing Strategic Partnership among its Member News Agencies

Founded on October 14, 2014 in Casablanca, FAAPA aims to promote cooperation and the exchange of experience between press agencies in all areas of common interest including, in particular, information, training and multimedia products.

Within this framework, the Federation has set itself the objectives of establishing a strategic partnership and developing professional relations between press agencies, as well as contributing to consolidating the free flow of information and strengthening cooperation and coordination at regional and international forums.

FAAPA has the 1st African news aggregator website: 100 news items/day in French and English, and the NWL-FAAPA Women Leaders Network website, a communication and sharing platform for women journalists and leaders of this pan-African professional federation.

FAAPA has also set up the African Center for the Training Journalists, which has benefited 350 journalists and executives from African press agencies.

Each year, the Federation also awards 3 Grands Prix to journalists and reporters for best article, best video report and best photo.

The Grand Prix is meant to encourage excellence among African press agencies.

It consists of 30 member press agencies and professional groups, including AMAN (Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies), OANA (Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies), ULAN (Latin American Union of News Agencies), UNA (Union of OIC News Agencies) and FANA (Federation of Arab News Agencies).

The professional bodies and platforms affiliated to FAAPA are the Network of Women Leaders (NWL-FAAPA), the Forum of News Directors (FDI-FAAPA), the Network of IT Managers and Computer Scientists (RIAPA-FAAPA) and the Network of Sports Journalists (RJS-FAAPA).

The Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), which is holding its 7th General Assembly on Monday and Tuesday, is a professional platform for reflection on the future of press agencies and the role they should play in the 21st century, in their respective diversities and specificities, taking into account the profound changes characterizing the media landscape in the context of globalization and the multimedia era.
