Amman, July 25 (Petra) – During an inspection visit to Queen Alia
International Airport (QAIA) on Saturday, Finance Minister Abdul
Hakim Shibli reviewed operations, customs procedures for passenger
reception and baggage handling, as well as future expansion plans.

He urged constant development of the airport’s operational system,
enhanced efficiency of services through a smooth passenger and
baggage movement, as well as introduction of latest technology in
baggage handling and inspection.

The minister thanked staff, pledging government support of
development and modernization schemes to improve service quality.

Jordan Customs Department Director General Brigadier General Ahmad
Akalik said the department continues to modernize baggage inspection
procedures relying on smart systems and cutting edge technology to
achieve speed and efficiency while maintaining security and control
requirements.

Airport International Group (AIG) CEO Nicolas Deviller reviewed key
expansion projects being implemented by the group to increase the
airport’s capacity from 12 to 18 million passengers annually.

He said the next phase will see the expansion of the baggage claim
area with the addition of a new space equipped with four modern
conveyor belts and advanced inspection systems, which will enhance
operational capacity and improve the passenger experience.

Deviller said close cooperation between AIG, customs, and security
agencies is key to employing latest technologies, raising the level
of services, and enhancing efficiency and security at QAIA.
