Khartoum, July 24 (SUNA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim affirmed that Sudan’s foreign policy is grounded in its Arab, African and Islamic affiliations, while maintaining openness to the wider world in a manner that promotes peace, security and stability, reinforces the principle of good neighbourliness, and safeguards the interests of the Sudanese people. In a joint interview with the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), and Sudan Radio and Television, the minister said one of the enduring principles of Sudanese diplomacy is non-interference in the affairs of other states. He added that Sudan is moving confidently towards achieving its national objectives and that its foreign policy is based on openness to all countries, provided they do not interfere in its internal affairs. He said Sudan approaches regional and international initiatives pragmatically in a way that protects its interests and the rights of its people, stressing that “those who supported the militia cannot serve as mediators.” The minister also sent a message to the international community, saying: “Those who do not move quickly to seize the opportunity with us will miss Sudan’s renaissance as its plane takes off.” He added that Sudan has partnerships with regional and international organisations as well as friendly countries, with plans for post-war reconstruction. He said official visits are being conducted to activate agreements related to reconstruction and rebuilding, noting that Sudan has received a strong positive response from its partners. The minister said foreign policy is a reflection of domestic policy and that Sudan is pressing ahead with reconstruction plans in partnership with friendly countries and development partners. He said security remains the foremost priority within the government’s strategy, which focuses on two parallel tracks: supporting the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied forces to secure victory, and providing essential services to citizens while advancing recovery efforts to create the conditions for voluntary return. He added that the executive branch is making significant efforts to achieve these objectives.BH/BH
