Amman, July 11 (Petra) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi discussed over the
telephone with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Saturday
prospects for de-escalation in the region and efforts made for
implementation of a US-Iranian ceasefire agreement.

The ministers agreed that concerted efforts be made to bring about
calm and resort to dialogue as the path to solve the crisis.

They also warned against the consequences of Israel’s ongoing illegal
actions in the occupied Palestinian territories, which perpetuate the
occupation, violate the Palestinian people’s right to freedom,
statehood, and dignity on their historic land, and undermine chances
of achieving a just peace.

The ministers agreed on the need to implement all provisions of US
President Donald Trump’s plan to stabilize Gaza.

They also pledged continued joint efforts to support Syria’s unity,
security, and stability, and the reconstruction process launched by
the Syrian government to build a future “that meets the aspirations
of the brotherly Syrian people.”

The ministers condemned Israeli attacks on Syria, interference in
Syria’s internal affairs, and attempts to destabilize the country.

Fidan briefed Safadi on the outcome of a NATO summit in Turkey last
week.

The ministers also discussed ways to bolster the historic and
brotherly Jordanian-Turkish relations, pledging to continue to
develop cooperation across various sectors.
