Amman, June 1 (Petra) — Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi,
Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, condemned the
ongoing hostile Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait, saying such actions
represent a dangerous and irresponsible escalation, a flagrant
violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and international laws and norms,
and a direct threat to regional security and stability.
In a statement published on the council’s official website on Monday,
Al-Budaiwi said the continuation of what he called “these aggressive
attacks” reflected an unacceptable Iranian approach that undermines
efforts to preserve security and stability.
He called on the international community and the United Nations
Security Council to assume their responsibilities and adopt a firm,
deterrent stance against what he described as serious violations that
threaten regional and international peace and security.
Al-Budaiwi stressed that Kuwait’s security is an integral part of the
security of GCC member states and said the council’s members stand
united and firmly alongside Kuwait.
He added that GCC countries fully support all measures and actions
taken by Kuwait to protect its security, safeguard its sovereignty
and territorial integrity, and ensure the safety of its citizens and
residents.
