Gold Prices Fall on Expectations of
US Rate Hike
Singapore, 28 Sep 2026 (ONA) — Gold
prices declined by more than one percent today after rising oil prices
intensified concerns over inflation and reinforced expectations that the
Federal Reserve will raise interest rates once again.
Spot gold fell 1.5 percent to
$4,223.95 per ounce, while US gold futures lost 1.5 percent to $4,257.90 per
ounce.
The US central bank had raised
interest rates earlier this month by a quarter of a percentage point to between
3.75 percent and four percent.
Among other precious metals, spot
silver declined 2.6 percent to $62.64 per ounce, platinum fell 2.1 percent to
$1,741.45, and palladium dropped 2.1 percent to $1,239.95.
