Geneva, April 13 (QNA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has expressed its deep concern over attacks targeting medical workers in Lebanon, following an attack Monday on a Lebanese Red Cross center in the south of the country, as well as the killing of a Lebanese Red Cross volunteer yesterday (Sunday).

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Israeli airstrike Monday resulted in one death and damage to Lebanese Red Cross vehicles.

The ICRC explained that the Lebanese Red Cross center in the coastal city of Tyre was targeted in an airstrike.

The Lebanese Red Cross stated yesterday that one of its volunteers died from injuries sustained in an Israeli drone strike in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon.

For her part, Agnès Durr, head of the ICRC delegation in Lebanon, affirmed that “the loss of those who dedicate their lives to saving others is deeply troubling, given the impact it has on civilians who depend on their assistance.”

She added, “Humanitarian and medical personnel must be protected and enabled to access and assist the wounded, and to return.” (QNA)
