Baghdad, July 05 (QNA) – An officer from Iraq’s Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) was killed during a security operation and armed clashes with ISIS operatives north of Kirkuk province in northern Iraq.
Iraq’s Joint Operations Command (JOC) said in a statement on Sunday that a force from the Counter Terrorism Service was conducting inspection campaigns at sites that had come under previous airstrikes in the disputed areas separating the federal government and the Kurdistan Region, where clashes erupted with ISIS militants.
Iraqi forces have been going after ISIS remnants across many parts of Iraq’s governorates, as the group’s operatives occasionally plan and launch armed attacks on military and police personnel. (QNA)
