Irbid, Sept. 29 (Petra) — Head of the Greater Irbid Municipality
Committee Imad Al-Azzam discussed with a delegation from China’s
Yutong Bus Company avenues of cooperation, investment opportunities
in the city, and the possibility of benefiting from the company’s
expertise in electric bus manufacturing.

During the meeting, Al-Azzam stressed the Greater Irbid
Municipality’s need to implement an advanced urban transport project
that would facilitate residents’ movement between the city’s
districts, noting that the municipality has a clear plan for the
project but that its implementation requires securing the necessary
funding.

He explained that the municipality’s orientation toward clean energy
makes electric buses a fundamental option in any future urban
transport project in the city.

For its part, the Chinese delegation noted that the company’s buses
are among the best-selling in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi
Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, pointing to the company’s
contract with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) to supply several
buses for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The company delegation’s visit to Irbid follows Al-Azzam’s visit to
Yutong’s main factory in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou during his
recent trip to the People’s Republic of China.
