Amman, June 13 (Petra) – Chairman of Jordan Exporters Association
(JEA), Senator Ahmad Khudri, met with the Chairperson of Korea
Importers Association (KOIMA), Yun Young-mi, in Seoul, South Korea,
to discuss ways to enhance industrial and economic cooperation
between Jordan and S. Korea and develop relations between the two
countries’ private sector institutions.

According to a JEA statement issued on Saturday, Khudri said the
S.Korean market is a “promising” destination for Jordanian products.

He noted Jordan’s participation in the Seoul International Food and
Hospitality Expo demonstrated “true” opportunities for Jordanian
products to enter this market, mainly given the wide international
presence at the show and the participation of companies from around
the world, reflecting the S. Korean market’s “openness to
high-quality imported products.”

He added that participation in the expo represents the first trade
initiative organized by the JEA in the S. Korean market.

In this context, he expressed hope this step will form a “solid”
foundation for developing bilateral trade and investment relations
and contribute to opening “new” horizons for Jordanian exports in
Asian markets.

He added that the Jordanian companies participating in the exhibition
held extensive meetings and communications with S. Korean and Arab
importers residing in South Korea, adding that these talks would
yield positive outcomes in the coming period.

He noted entry to the S.Korean market requires a “continuous”
presence and ongoing participation to promote Jordanian products and
build trust with importers and consumers in this important market.

On its role, he stated the JEA continues its efforts to open new
markets for national products and enhance their competitiveness in
global markets by organizing participation in international
exhibitions and trade missions, and building partnerships with
business institutions worldwide.

This effort, he stated, contributes to increasing Jordanian exports,
supporting the national economy, and providing greater growth
opportunities for local companies.

He called for building upon the “distinguished” relations between
Jordan and South Korea, which enjoy the support of the the two
countries’ leadership.

He affirmed the private sector is required to capitalize on these
relations and transform them into economic and trade partnerships
that contribute to increasing the volume of mutual trade and
investment.

Building on the positive results achieved during its participation in
the current Seoul International Food and Hospitality Expo, he
announced the JEA will organize Jordanian participation in the next
edition of the exhibition.

This step will enhance opportunities for Jordanian products to access
Asian markets and solidify their presence in the South Korean market,
he pointed out.

He stated the JEA, founded in 1988, operates, based on a strategy
aimed at expanding the reach of Jordanian products in foreign markets
and strengthening the presence of national companies at international
exhibitions and events.

He said the JEA is also “committed” to implementing programs and
initiatives that contribute to increasing national exports and
opening new markets for them, which would “positively” impact the
national economy and enhance the export sector’s contribution to
economic development.

He noted the ongoing coordination and cooperation between the JEA and
private sector institutions in the Kingdom, particularly chambers of
industry and the Export House, in supporting Jordanian companies and
enabling their access to foreign markets.

For her part, Young-mi welcomed the Jordanian delegation, calling for
strengthening communication and cooperation between the two
countries’ business communities, mainly given that her country’s
market enjoys “high purchasing power and a growing interest in
high-quality food products.”

She said Jordanian products enjoy “strong competitive” advantages,
particularly in the food, agricultural, and food processing sectors,
expressing hope for expanding trade cooperation between S. Korean and
Jordanian companies in the coming period.

Yang stated Korea Importers Association is ready to provide the
necessary support to enhance communication between the two nations’
businesspeople and companies, which would contribute to building
long-term trade partnerships and increasing the volume of mutual
trade.

Additionally, she urged continued bilateral visits and meetings to
explore available investment and trade opportunities.

The meeting was attended on the Jordanian side by the Jordanian
Ambassador to South Korea, Asel Al-Tal, Senator Mamdouh Nabbas, and
the JEA Director General, Halim Abu Rahma.
