Baqa’a, Feb 18 (Petra) – The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) and a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in biodiversity conservation and capacity building for agricultural researchers.
NARC Director-General Khaled Abu Hammour emphasized the importance of joint research efforts in biodiversity preservation, the conservation of plant heritage, and knowledge transfer to agricultural researchers. He also highlighted the need to equip the center and its research laboratories with advanced technology and modern equipment to enhance scientific research and facilitate the adoption of cutting-edge agricultural technologies. These efforts align with the national sustainable development plan spearheaded by the Ministry of Agriculture.
IAEA Deputy Director General for Technical Cooperation Hua Liu praised the collaboration with NARC, commending its strong reputation and capabilities in utilizing scientific research to support sustainable development.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Al-Omari, Advisor to the Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) for International Cooperation, noted the ongoing partnership with NARC in capacity building through training programs for agricultural researchers and engineers.
The IAEA delegation included Program Coordinator Mahfouz Sarhan, Technical Cooperation Department Advisor Marina Bente, and Sajeda Nsour from the JAEC.
