Jordan records highest-ever winter electricity load on Sunday

Amman, Feb. 9 (Petra) – Jordan recorded its highest-ever winter electricity load on Sunday, reaching 4,210 megawatts (MW), Director-General of the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Sufian Bataineh, announced.

In a statement, Bataineh explained that the highest winter electricity load recorded last year was 4,070 MW, while the peak summer load was registered on August 14, 2023, at 4,240 MW.

He emphasized NEPCO’s ability to meet electricity demand, assuring that the company is fully prepared to handle the increased load. He also noted that field teams are actively monitoring the grid to address any emergencies.

Bataineh attributed the rise in electricity consumption to the cold weather conditions that have affected the kingdom since the end of last week.
