Amman, Feb. 19 (Petra) — Jordan’s tourism sector outperformed expectations in 2024, with international visitor numbers and revenue surpassing the targets set in the Economic Modernization Vision, according to the annual tourism report.
The report said international visitors to the kingdom totaled approximately 6.108 million last year, exceeding the vision’s target of 5.367 million by 13.8%. Tourism revenue also outpaced projections, reaching JD 5.132 billion, 2.9% higher than the JD 4.989 billion anticipated in the vision.
The report added that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will prioritize sector resilience and continuous improvement in 2025, particularly in response to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Gaza.
To fulfill its commitments under the Economic Modernization Vision, the ministry will oversee government tourism priorities, each with specific activities and timelines. It will also monitor progress monthly and report to the Government Performance and Achievement Monitoring Unit at the Prime Ministry.
The report noted that efforts will be focused on meeting key performance indicators outlined in the vision.
