King receives US Congress staffers

Amman, August 11 (Petra) His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday
received a delegation of United States Congress staff, according to a
royal court statement.

The meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by His Royal
Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, covered the
strategic partnership between Jordan and the US and ways of
strengthening it in a number of areas, as well as regional
developments.

His Majesty emphasised the need to achieve regional comprehensive
de-escalation and to ensure the security of Arab states.

The King warned of the dangers of Israel’s unilateral measures
against Palestinians in the West Bank, annexation of land, and
expansion of settlements, underscoring the need to put an end to
Israeli violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of
the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Jordan’s Ambassador to the
United States Dina Kawar, and United States’ Ambassador to Jordan
James Holtsnider attended the meeting.
