Amman, August 11 (Petra) – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun received a
Jordanian parliamentary delegation on Tuesday headed by the Chairman
of Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee Haitham Ziyadin.
Aoun lauded Jordan’s “steadfast support” under the leadership of His
Majesty King Abdullah II, pointing to the deep historical ties
between Amman and Beirut, as well as the potential for expanding
cooperation across various fields.
Aoun commended King Abdullah’s international advocacy for the
Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to an
independent state. He also stated the importance of the Hashemite
Custodianship in preserving the city’s historical, legal, and
religious identity.
For his part, Ziyadin praised the strong bilateral relations and
pushed for further expanding political and economic cooperation.
He stated the “vital role” of parliamentary collaboration in aligning
positions on regional issues of mutual concern.
